Daylight Savings Time – Ends this Weekend!

Fall Back ClockAnother hour of sleep – who couldn’t use that these days!  Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday, November 1 at 2:00 a.m.  Remember to change your clocks one hour back before you go to bed this Saturday night and enjoy an extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning.

The N.C. State Fair is coming to Raleigh!

October in the Triangle is packed full of fun events!  One being a long standing tradition that brings in visitors from all over the state – the NC State Fair!

Beginning on Thu, Oct. 15 and running through Sun, Oct. 25, this years theme is “A Whole Lotta Happy”.  And there’s something for everyone of all ages ~ enjoy the rides, dancing contests, horse shows, food, musical performances, magic shows, cooking contest, the fireworks extravaganza every night and so much more!

Memorial Day Event in Cary

This Saturday at Koka Booth Amphitheater is a patriotic concert for you to enjoy with friends and family.  The Concert Singers of Cary and The Triangle Wind Ensemble present “An American Celebration” at 7:30 pm.  Tickets are $12-25.00 with kids 12 and under free.

Artsplosure Festival is Downtown Raleigh This Saturday!

Don’t miss out on Artsplosure this weekend in Moore Square, downtown Raleigh.  Artsplosure is celebrating its 30th anniversary with live music, art exhibits and special events for children.  The art market will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.  This is a free event for people of all ages.  For more information go to www.artsplosure.org or call 832-8699.

Free Music Concerts in Cary This Week!

Cary Town Band
Friday, May 8, 7:30 p.m.
The Cary Town Band presents concerts of a bygone era, featuring marches, circus music, waltzes, one and two-steps, rags, famous overtures and other music of the 1890s and early 1900s. This small, 20-year-old, 30-piece band is typical of the town bands of that era. For more information on the band, call (919) 467-7336.

Presented in American Sign Language and spoken English by deaf and hearing performers

In the story of Dr. Dolittle, we are introduced to the good doctor who gives up treating people, after Polynesia, his parrot, teaches him animal languages. He already knew sign language. Who would have thought he could learn animal languages too? His fame in the animal kingdom quickly spreads throughout the world. Using ALL his language skills, he sets off to cure a monkey epidemic in Africa, finding all sorts of adventures on the way.

Celebrate the “Peak of Good Living” at the PeakFest, this Saturday!

PeakFest features over 200 vendors with a wide variety of arts and crafts.  There will be also plenty of entertainment with stages with music and dance acts, rides, and roving street performers, see map for stage lineups .  Also don’t forget about that delicious festival food.  The festival is from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm on Salem Street in historic downtown Apex, free and open to the public.

Western Wake Farmer’s Market Opens Saturday!

Welcome Western Wake Farmer’s Market 

Saturday, May 2nd is the grand opening of the Western Wake Farmers’ Market (WWFM) at Carpenter Village. WWFM is a “grower’s market,” which means all the fruits and vegetables are grown by farmers within 125 miles of the marketplace. The more than 30 vendors will also feature honey, meats, cheeses, seafood, eggs, flowers, coffee and baked goods. The market will be open every Saturday from 8 am-12 noon at 1226 Morrisville Carpenter Rd. between Davis Dr. and Hwy. 55 in Cary.

Spring is here and Easter egg hunts are right around the corner.  Below is a list of fun Triangle events for children and their families. Many community hunts’ have age restrictions, so please check event details. 

Most events are held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 unless otherwise noted.

Raleigh: 11 a.m. Check your local community centers plus Brier Creek, Lake Johnson, Laurel Hills and Tarboro Road. For kids 10 and younger. Call 831-6640 or go to www.raleighnc.gov/parks for locations.

Raleigh: 11 a.m. At Moore Square Park, downtown Raleigh.   Raleigh’s biggest festival and egg hunt for kids of all ages.  For more information visit  http://www.raleigheaster.com

 

Cary: 10:30 a.m. Kids ages 10 and under are invited to Cary’s Bond Park, 801 High House Road, for the 18th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4 with morning and afternoon hunts, at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. For more details, including a schedule of egg hunts, visit Easter Egg Hunt http://www.townofcary.org/depts/prdept/events/easteregghunt.htm or call (919) 469-4061.
